Fundraising Events

There are 2 reasons why you are holding the event:

1. To RAISE MONEY.

2. To have a good time, bit of a Knee’s Up, Wine ‘n’ Dine, enjoy the Comedian and listen to the Celebrity Speaker.

RAISING MONEY is the second most important, the key to success is to give all your guests “The night of their life.” A night which is talked about for months, then, when you organise your next event, your guests will be queuing for tickets. However, give your guests a BAD night, and they will never support you again.

You will NOT lose money, it is very rare that a fundraising event loses money, the majority of events fall into three categories. PROFITABLE, VERY PROFITABLE & VERY-VERY PROFITABLE, the only difference between these three categories is YOUR ORGANISATION.

DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP OF “NO PROFESSIONAL COMPERE”

This is NOT an opportunity to save money by asking the “Team Captain” – “Chairman” – “The team Joker in the Pack” to do the job…. At very best, they’ll be average. NOT using a professional Compere WILL cost you money.

A GOOD COMPERE IS A GREAT INVESTMENT and will play a few vitally important roles….

1. CAPITALISE ON ALL FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES

One key to a good Compere is the handling of the Auction, a professional Compere’s experience WILL sell your items for the maximum achievable amount, will play the audience against one another to get their goal and squeeze as many bids out of the room as possible.

2. TOTALLY LINK THE EVENING TOGETHER

Will ensure your guests know what’s happening, when it’s happening, where it’s happening and why it’s happening, it’s so important that the Compere is the most informed person of the events itinery.

3. HOST THE RAFFLES/DRAWS IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER

What’s the fun in hearing raffle numbers called out for 10-15 minutes…. Don’t worry, to a professional Compere it’s a piece of cake and WILL make the draw fun.

4. INTRODUCE THE GUESTS, SPEAKERS AND COMEDIAN CORRECTLY

You may not think so, but this is so very vitally important to the Speaker and Comedian, there’s a way to introduce your guests….. & A WAY NOT TO.

5. PLAY SECOND FIDDLE TO THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS

A good Compere knows their own strengths which they offer to the event, will know their place, and is happy to play second fiddle to the events main attractions, guests attend to listen to the stories from the household name Speaker, to laugh at the great Comedian, in fact it’s the Comedian and the Speaker that will tell you how good your Compere really is……. And of course the Treasurer the morning after…
